Walt Disney pushed hard to make Pinocchio, his second feature-length movie, an artistic masterpiece. Needless to say, it shows.
In terms of taking the medium into the next level, there's hardly a movie that compares with Pinocchio. Dinesy's previous movie, Snow White, looks like a poor relative next to Pinocchio's stunning visuals and scale. Moreover, the story is nuanced, emotional and well-crafted, one that resonates across ages and cultures.
One does not have to be a professional to see that no single image in Pinocchio looks unfinished or bland. The movie stands shoulder to shoulder with animation giants and is rightfully considered to be one of the greatest of all time.
